Back to work today! All three shows were packed today, we had a lot of fun! Almost at 1,500 shows! I am sure I will get there before I leave in January. I also got my flight details of when I am coming home. I am looking forward to coming back and seeing all my friends and family, but sad to leave Florida. Coming home also means.... Thailand!! wooo! This photo was taken last night when we went to Universal to see Australia. Surf's up!

I just spent the last two days working and running errands. Today though is my day off and no plans! So I headed over to Sea World (since I have a fun pass)! I have been here quite a few times in the last year or so. It's one of my favourite places. I decided to ask about their tours since I have never done one all the times I had been there. Sure enough they had a tour open when I get to see the behind the scenes of the Wild Arctic. You get to see the Beluga Whales, Seals and the best part.... at the end you got to pet a penguin!!! I couldn't believe it and I signed up right away! I got to see and pet a rock hopper penguin. So cute, they were little rascals. Reminded me of my puppy Scout. I had a great day. I can't wait until Christmas when we all go to Disney World!

Birthday celebrations continues! Today is the day that we have our company Christmas party! There were so many people there and we had a good time. They had some really good food, took lots of pictures and danced (of course). Also, we all walked away with a gift! I got a vanilla bath set, so it is the picture of the day. Now it's back to work. What a great weekend!

Birthday celebrations begin! It's my day off, so I spent the day getting my nails done. At night we went out to a new bar in Daytona to hang out with everyone! Some pre-drinks at a sports bar and then we headed over to the Coliseum to dance it up! We had a lot of fun. Here's a photo of Adam and I at the bar. Thanks to all who made it out, even in spite of exams!

Hoops today! After last week being Thanksgiving our hoops class was cancelled and I was looking forward to returning tonight to learn some new advanced tricks. As well we needed to do some Christmas shopping at Downtown Disney, so of course we had to stop by our favourite pizza spot CiCi's. For those of you who have never heard of Cici's you pay 5.99 for a pizza buffet. They have all kinds of pizza mac and cheese, spinach and Alfredo, taco pizza. For dessert they have pizza for that too! Along with cinnamon rolls and brownies. We love it! I have been 5 times in the last three months. lol

The photo of the day is me doing a move called the angel at hoops. I will post a video of me doing my routine soon! Tonight we are going out in Daytona for my birthday! I am sure the photo of the day for today will be interesting!

We had decided to go to the Astronaut Hall of Fame today. It was on our list of things to do before we left as Adam and I had never been! (We get in for free because we work at the Kennedy Space Center) What a great place! There are all kinds of G Force simulators and games which includes landing a space shuttle. Lots of fun. I brought Moose and it looks like he got to land on the moon. He is the photo of the day! One more day of shows then I have my weekend! Woo!

Tonight I went to my dance class in Orlando. It is at a place called Hardrive Productions with Pamela Bolling. I am not sure how many times I will get to the class this month with it being Christmas. So I brought my camera to take a picture. This woman is amazing and inspiring! No matter what my mood is when I walk into her class and the music starts I instantly have a smile on my face, because I know it's going to be a good class! Good times, good times. So here's to her and her positivity! If you want to know about her and the company, check this website out: http://www.hardriveinc.com/.

Wow, it is the end of November already! It feels like I just got here. We were back to three shows today, so I slept in. About a month or so ago Adam came home with Guitar Hero 1 and Guitar Hero 2 with a used guitar. Since then we have been playing pretty much every other night. It's been so much fun! So after work today Adam and I went to Game Stop because they were having a sale. So we ended up buying a second guitar and the 80's Guitar Hero. For the first time tonight I got a perfect score. It was on easy, but I was very pleased! Woo! Three shows again tomorrow. Woo December.... not long until I head home.....

I had today off. I got up a little early so that I could go to the gym before dropping Adam and Holly off at work. They had to do to 5 shows again because of the Thanksgiving crowds, so I had lots of time to go into Orlando! I had to exchange a couple of shirts that I bought off of the Internet for my trip to Thailand, so I went to a store called Travel Country in Orlando. I exchanged the tops for something that I liked, did some more window shopping (looking at the new Nikon D90 and by looking I mean drooling) I then drove back just in time to see the last show of the day at Mad Mission to Mars! Amazing!

So this day was what is known to the States as Black Friday. And wow the deals, the sales!!! We had to do 5 shows today, but I got up early and went shopping at JC Penney in the morning. Got some good deals. Then did the 5 shows, all were amazing and so were audiences. Then afterwards we went to the Merritt Island Mall, where I got THE best deal ever!!! I got a reversible Hurley belt for $5!!! It's an amazing deal. Plus, I got to go to the pet store and play with some puppies, which always makes my day. I miss my pup. It was a great day though!

Today is Thanksgiving in the States. It was a pretty busy day at the Space Center, our shows were all full and we had lot of fun with the kids!! Also, we got a free turkey dinner at the space center for lunch. So I had turkey, stuffing, green beans (which I gave to Adam) and mashed potatoes... mmmMMMmmmm I loved it! It was Holly's day off so she ate her dinner that the clubhouse here at the condo. So tonight we aren't really having any turkey dinner. After work Adam and I ran to a nearby park (since the gym and hoops are closed today) and we did some strengthening exercises, etc. So my photo of the day is from that park.

Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. This park is great not only because it is right on the river, but I found a geocache there earlier this year. One of my first ones!

Well as my time here in Florida comes to an end once again (sigh). I have decided to keep a photo journal of my time here. I want to remember as much as I can! Only 6 more weeks left....

One thing that I will never forget about Florida is the sunsets, somehow every sunset is more beautiful and more breath-taking than the last. No two sunsets are the same ever here. Adam helped me catch this one tonight. Enjoy!

Monday #4 and #5 and #6 and.....

I haven't been keeping up here with my every Monday Matters, but I assure I have been following them every week!

One Monday was prepare for an emergency and thanks to the previous mad science members that lived in our condo we are prepared! I have candles, flashlights and I always have much bottled water on hand. So I was pretty much covered there!

The next Monday was eat healthy! I find that when I am here living in Florida I do eat waaaay more healthy than I do when I am on tour. Obviously, I can make more of my own healthy meals, etc. It also helps that my boyfriend is a vegetarian. I find here that I also snack less and I am more active because of the nice weather all year round. The only goal that I strive to reach everyday is eating my complete servings of fruits and vegetables. I usually have to resort to drinking a V8 for my vegetables, because I do love most fruits. It is just so expensive to purchase them here in the States compared to the unhealthy, processed foods that they offer here. Though it is worth the extra money for sure. I want to be in good health, not only for myself, but for those who love me. I want to live a long and healthy life!

Now tomorrow this Monday is get rid of junk mail. I didn't know that you can do some of these options, but here is what you do to get rid of a lot of junk mail. You can write "Please do not rent or sell my name " next to your name whenever you enter a contest. (these days I have stopped entering things, because of all the junk mail and telemarketers that call!!)You also need to do this when you make a donation, order a product by mail, subscribe to a magazine or return a warranty card. For the States you can go online or mail Direct Marketing Association's Preference Service. I don't know if there is something similar for Canada.

Did you know that there is 500 pieces of junk mail per person per year????? Wow. Time to help save the trees for sure.

Moving along my Mom and her friend Linda came down to visit me this week and we had a great time! It was actually quite warm during the day, so we did get to the beach this week! yay!! I hope to go again sometime soon! I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Only 6 more to go before I go back to Canada. So bittersweet!

Take care.

Halfway There!

Well, my contract in Florida is halfway over. My time here has been fun and we have done so much!

After getting settled back into the swing of things in the show, we had a chance to say goodbye to Pleasure Island. It was sad to go to the Adventurer's Club for their last week and see all the actors say goodbye and we really hated to see it go. Too bad I didn't go more last year when I was here.

I ran my first race and though I didn't come first overall, I did come first in my age range, which got me a little trophy and a free month's membership at the gym. As well this Halloween season Adam and I volunteered with Kennedy Space Center at the Bevard Zoo to hand out candy to the kids. We had a great time.

There has been many laughs, lots of inside jokes and made lots of children smile while teaching them a little about science. I find myself living a little bit larger here and a little bit healthier. I feel like there is no boundaries and I am very happy to be making some big life decisions while I am here.

Also, there is two more months to go before I return to Canada and I can't wait. My mom is coming to visit and see the show, I am making plans to go to Thailand. My birthday! So much good coming my way! Can't wait to see what else is in store.

Two posts in two days!??!! I know!

So not only today is my friday and I am so looking forward to having two days off and resting my mind and body, but today as you probably know is the election for the American President. I have hopes that this year will be one of the biggest turnouts, either way today is a day of big change. Being a Canadian I have no say in who gets elected, but it's nice to sit back and watch what happens. Constantly in our lunch room CNN has been covering this election for over a year and a half. I have never seen anything get so much coverage and apparently it's like this every election. I wonder what CNN will have to report next week lol

Can't wait for the results, hopefully we won't have to wait weeks as we did in the year 2000. Remember, if you can...get out and vote! You matter!

Monday #3

Every Monday Matters 03: Have amber alerts sent to you.

AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. It was created as a legacy to 9 year old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, then brutally murdered. You can download a ticker right to your computer. You matter! So obviously this one I will be able to do for the time that I am living in the States. Take care.

Turn off the TV

This Monday that matters I am to turn off the tv. Now they aren't saying no tv ever, but to designate no tv time. Once our show tech and I had a great conversation about the potential for people if they would turn off the tv. It's true, imagine what would happen if we turned off the tv more. We would write, paint, create, exercise, balance that checkbook or do that thing we have been putting off for days and days. I made the decision a long time ago that I would be a much more productive person if I turned of the tv more often and I do make that effort. Sometimes though I do find myself in front of the tv and then notice hours have gone by.... sigh. Well, the important part is I keep working on it :D

Every Monday Matters

So my latest little fun thing that I picked up is this book called "Every Monday Matters" it is written by Matthew Emerzian and Kelly Bozza.

So the drill is to do something different every Monday that matters. Just ordinary people doing extraordinary good. It is a book written in the States so the statistics that come along with it are of course based on American people. Me? I am going to do as many as I possibly can! So every week I will be writing about what is my task and how it goes!

So the first Monday Week 01: What Matters Most

Too much time on commuting to work or watching tv. So take action today.

This week I am to make a list of things that matter to me and the activities I do every week. Then weed out the activities that are eating up my time that don't matter. By rearranging my schedule I will end up spending my time doing what matters most. I have always thought about these things in the back of my mind, but it will be good for me to actually make a list and see it before me and really realize what I have been doing with my time.

Remember Time is a non-renewable resource. Once it's used up, you can't get it back.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Facts about Breast Cancer

One in eight women or 12.6% of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.

Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.

Approximately 1400 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2000 and 400 of those men will die.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74.

You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

FAQ:

Can physical activity reduce the risk of breast cancer?

Exercise pumps up the immune system and lowers estrogen levels. With as little as four hours of exercise per week, a woman can begin to lower her risk of breast cancer.

Can a healthy diet help prevent breast cancer?

A nutritious, low-fat diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. A high-fat diet increases the risk because fat triggers estrogen production that can fuel tumor growth.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: BSE

Breast Self-Exam (BSE)

Taking a few minutes to do a breast self-exam a minimum of once a month can make a lifetime of difference. Nearly 70% of all breast cancers are found through self-exams and with early detection the 5-year survival rate is 96%. If you find a lump, schedule an appointment with your doctor, but don't panic—8 out of 10 lumps are not cancerous. For additional peace of mind, call your doctor whenever you have concerns

Florida Part Deux

Hello!

It is so surreal to be back to Florida!! But I am having a fantastic time so far. It has gone so fast! I haven't fallen into a routine yet because of the cast change over.. which is so good. There are so many extra-curricular activities that I am looking into. Right now, I'm trying to get in as much scuba diving in as much as possible. So far nothing :( but I believe there will be something for me next week. Which I am looking forward to.

I also bought an M audio Keystation 88ES (which after I had the time to figure it out... it doesn't work) So now I have to take it back. My spirits remain high that I will be able to find something else that I will enjoy. In the meantime though I have a keyboard here that the girls before were renting and so far I have been keeping up my practices, though I am not currently taking lessons. I hope to start in October!

Lastly, I have been looking into getting my certification with AFAA so that I can start doing some fitness type training. I am very interested in this idea and I think that it would complement my dance teacher background.

So between the hunt for a piano to use while I am down here and trying to scuba dive I am actually working (if you can call it that :D) We are at 3 shows days and all three of us are back into the swing of things at work. It's great. So much going on, but it's all fun and more fun!

More to report in the future I am sure!!

Here There and Everywhere

What a month!! August has been great and I can only hope that the rest of the year reflects all the good things that have happened to me!

I have returned to Florida. It feels great to be back. In one way it's like I never left, in another you know that things have changed. The girls here are amazing and I am so happy to work with them for a week! To walk out on stage again today was overwhelming in a good way. All the shows went well. I remembered what I was doing :D

Tom my favourite AV operator turns to me when I was done the first show today and says "Just like riding a bike."

I laughed... because it was true.

I missed the heat,
I missed acting.

I might put a character on, but I am in there and you can see me when I smile, or when I laugh. (there was a lot of laughing today. Good, full belly laughs.)

This is gonna be a great contract!!

When you were young...

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up???

At first I wanted to be a horse jockey and my mom told me that couldn't be because you need to be really short to ride the horses. ha ha true story. Guess I could predict the future after all!!

Once that was all sorted out, I wanted to be an entertainer. As I grew up I would choreograph dances in my basement every night. Or get all my family and friends involved with filming and making commercials, music videos and doing talk shows. As soon as I could take drama in school I did. Where I went on to write and act in many plays. Also, I was apart of the Sears Drama Festival in any way I could. Quick fact: drama is the only OAC credit I have to this date. I have always wanted to do what I am doing to this very day and everyday I try to continue as best as I can and listen to my heart about what is real.

Tell me when you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Who would you rather meet?

Who would you rather meet? Your great great grandparents?? Or your great great grandchildren??

At this stage of my life I am so interested with how everything is all going to turn out that I would have to say my great great grandchildren. Don't get me wrong I am very interested in my history, my past, but I think I am very connected to my family and where they came from. I just would love to know how things are about to turn out for me in the future! So impatient... yes I am!! lol

Who would you meet?

If You Were Offered A Seat On The Next Space Shuttle Would You Take it?

Absolutely!!

I have always been amazed about Space. I have always wondered what it would be like to travel in the great unknown!! Though we know more about space than we do about our seas. Which also fascinates me! Especially to go to the space station. From working at the Kennedy Space Center I have heard and seen so much stuff, it would be a dream to go. If it was the first trip to Mars that they are planning to do in the next 20 years or so.... then probably not. lol

What do you think?

What Do You Complain About More Than Anything Else?

On a whim I bought something in a store called "Table Topics". If you have not heard of this product before, it is a case with lots of little cards inside that ask questions to get conversations started.

Well, I have decided that every once in awhile I am going to pull a card and state my answer on this blog. (I have also used it with real people and it really does do the job! Plus, you get to find out some interesting things about your friends and how they view the world.) So I am not gonna lie I didn't just pull a card and answer the first one I got. I pulled until I found one I felt like answering. So yes I cheated. But nonetheless, here is the one I chose to answer today....

What do you complain about more than anything else?

I complain about a lot of things sometimes.....

My job
Money
My co-workers
Time
Space

lol I am quite an impatient person. But, what I think I find the most is that I complain about things that don't really make a difference. Who cares that the car in front of me cut me off? What difference does it make if I was late today or had a bad day at work? They can't all be good days and I think that if I just take a moment to breath then I realize how lucky I am. I have family who love me, friends who are there for me and yes I am very happy with how my career is going.

Though there are most days where I wish my career would move along faster...but I know that I am where I need to be. That is what it's all really about isn't it? So here I am! In the moment enjoying!!!!

Oh and please feel free to answer this post and let me know...

What do you complain about more than anything else?

Kendra

I like making a piece of string into something I can wear. ~Author Unknown

My bubbi took the time yesterday to sit down with me and teach me how to knit. I wanted to learn, but not from a stranger, not from a book. I wanted to learn from a woman that is so kind and patient and has always been a huge part of my life. I wanted to learn from the one of the woman that came before me and the best part is.... she taught me with the knitting needles that once belong to my late nana. I have a long way to go in my path to actually knitting something that isn't a dishcloth, but it's a start. Tomorrow... my first piano lesson!

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you

Hello!

It has been so long since I have written on here. Well since I last wrote I left Florida in the beginning of May, was home for Mother's Day and my mom's birthday. So crazy! Then I moved to New Hampshire for 5 weeks to continue with Mad Science in a different show. I worked pretty much everyday as my favourite character Crash! I met some awesome people and now I am home again. It's a vacation of sorts. I am looking forward to seeing and being with people that I have missed out on for the past year and a bit. I already went to some dance classes and it fed my soul!

Now you see before I even came home I had been thinking a lot about my piano. It's strange, I have this love/hate relationship with it and I officially abandoned it more than 10 years ago. (Lesson wise) I would occasionally sit down at the bench for the last few years and play some songs that I knew well (when no one was around). But lately there has been a change in me and I have decided to take up the piano again. I have arranged to get it tuned again for the first time in 12 years and the lessons have been booked. Before I expressed myself through dance, I used to express myself through the piano. I am excited/nervous and it's a very fragile relationship between the piano and I. As I sat down at the bench tonight tears came to my eyes. My father is the reason why I play the piano at all and I know that he would have been over the moon if he was around to see this.

Can't wait to see what comes!

Geocaching Might Be The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Heya...

Alright so my boyfriend introduced me to this crazy thing called Geocaching. All you need is a handheld GPS, a pen, some swag and a loss of all common sense! In other words... I love it!

So my new handheld garmin arrives surprisingly yesterday and today was my day off. So I thought here we go. I sent some waypoints to my handheld, dropped off my co-workers and I set off. At first the weather agreed with me... I set off to find a first of many caches called Rainbow Red. (yes there are all colors hiding in different places in Titusville. They have extra clues to lead you to the mother cache...Pot O Gold) It's lunch time at the park and there are quite a few other people there, but they get out of my way long enough for me to start looking. Now mind you I have a really VAGUE idea of what I am looking for. I look.... I look.... after about 15 minutes I realized I have acquired an audience of a couple having lunch and another group of three just bluntly staring at me. So I decide this is not the place to find my first cache.

I set off to Paul's Smokehouse to find the cache titled Rusty's Bull. I figure I know where this one is where is without even looking and sure enough when I get there, I look briefly and I find it. Way in the bush....covered in ants.... they look like fire ants. So I am standing there close to the highway at a closed restaurant's sign. Pretty much looking like an idiot. So I decide this is not the place to find my first cache.

I still have weather on my side so I decide to go to a four way stop where there is two hidden so geocaching.com has told my garmin. So after getting lost in suburbia hell trying to find a path to this lake, I finally decide to pull over to the side of the road and just go for it. Sure enough, it starts to pour. Boo

I know you are saying... "where does all this insanity end?!"

After it stopped raining and I picked up my co-workers. I finally got the car again to try a place at Sand Point Park. Claims easy in-easy find and the park closes in a half an hour! So I figure piece of cake. Nope. So now it's dusk and I am wandering around a park mumbling to myself and looking for a cache the size of my head. No luck. It got too dark before I could find anything.
So instead of admitting defeat and calling it a day. No... No...not this girl I am determined and stubborn. I go back to Rusty's Bull and I say screw you fire ants and I reach into the bush full of ants and grab the container I think is the cache.
I have to say even as I picked up and shook the ants off ...I didn't think it was it. It was too easy!
But I came this far.... I peeled off the top and inside was the piece of paper for me to sign!! I had found the cache!!! I was so proud of myself hehehehe I am not gonna lie.
I signed that paper and took Moose's picture with it and got the heck out before I was bitten!!

Yay! I am sure tomorrow I will be doing it again!
Here is some fun pictures of Moose.

Winding down.

I know it's been awhile since I have written one of these. I have been uninspired.
My time here in Florida is winding down and there are a lot of things to consider and think about. Plus, working 17 days straight will put you into Zombie mode for sure! I happened to read my horoscope today and I thought it had a lot of truth to it. (as most people think about their horoscopes) I wanted to post it, because it is along same line of thinking that I have had for awhile now. So here it is!

Finding a point of comfort may be difficult for you, dear Sagittarius. You may feel as if you are not really connecting with your ideals or your goals at this time. Even though you try to put things into motion, they don't really pan out the way you would like them to. There is a difficult energy pattern lining up making you feel like you need to join one camp or the other in order to feel accepted. The problem is that neither side looks especially appealing to you. Feel free to start your own camp.

Interesting indeed....

Also, new headshots this week and I am looking forward to it! It has been too long. Woo!

How True

I recieved a message from a motivational speaker by the name of Stuart Knight today. I wanted to post a piece of the message, because I agree with this line of thinking totally.
I have always believed in this way of life and I think it keeps up with the theme that I have been posting lately. So here it goes from the words of Stuart Knight;

"We choose the people that surround us. If we choose people that are only interested in living simple and easy lives, then we too will live the same life. But, if we choose people that push our limits in the way we think, feel and act then we have no other choice but to improve and become better. If we want more from life, then all we have to do is surround ourselves with people who want more from life. It really is that easy."

So thanks guys for being apart of my life and pushing me to my limits!

Thought of the day

Welcome to my world!!
hehehe

I read this when I first came down to Florida and I wanted to share with everyone as some food for thought:

"All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me.... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth maybe the best thing in the world for you."

-Walt Disney

Yea!
Take care,

K

How Time Flies

Wow

It just set in today how long I have been working in the States! I can't believe how lucky I am. To be doing what I love every single day of my life, having all my ablities and skills being used to my full potential is amazing. I performed for over 80, 000 people last year and it has caused me to do some reflection. I just wanted to write and let my good friends and family know that I am very thankful. Thanks for all the patience and love. Thanks for listening. For if I didn't have your support I wouldn't be where I am today. It took me a long time to realize but the saying "Those who mind, don't matter and those who matter, don't mind" is so true. I know I am lucky to be loved for who I am...... thank you. There is a lot more in store for the new year, so keep up!!
